Safer Gambling Week is an initiative of the EGBA, which ran from November 13-19 this year. The EGBA and its partners organized events in many European countries.
On November 14 in Riga, LIAB organized a seminar on the register of self-excluded players and public knowledge of the game. Representatives of the public authorities and experts attended the event. The results of a recent survey on public knowledge and opinions about the game were presented in the seminar.
The survey shows that the number of citizens who know about the register of self-excluded players is increasing thanks to LIAB's regular information campaigns. Also, a large part of the Latvian population believes that lotteries are gambling.
One of the most exciting lectures of the seminar was the lecture of the philosophy professor, Artis Svece, on the stigmatization of gambling addiction and the interaction of psyche and culture.
Signe Birne, Head of the Latvian Lotteries and Gambling Supervision Inspection, and Birgitte Sand, Executive Director of Birgitte Sand & Associates and former head of the Danish Lotteries and Gambling Regulator, highlighted the current situation on the register of self-excluded persons.
